This Program offers youth an alternative to the lifestyle that prevents their success in life. Too often young people are exposed to negativity at home, in their neighborhood, or in school. Booker Geez speaks openly about life for a resident in detention based upon his experience working as a Juvenile Counselor with adolescent males. This exposure gives young people a reality check and reminds them that this country is prepared to take their freedom if you allow them to. The worse information is misinformation, and far too often children are not aware of their rights and don’t know what to do when confronted with law enforcement officers. This Program involves guest speakers who were former residents of juvenile detention, and interaction with law enforcement officers who share their experience. This Program will help reduce the number of young people who get victimized and eventually institutionalized by the school-to-prison pipeline.
